Story of a Sunflower was inspired by my mental health recovery journey.

I've loved art all my life and discovered printmaking in 2017 after attending workshops.

Drawing has always been a love of mine and calms my mind.

Art is a wonderful form of expression and speaks louder than words.

Behind the Scenes

I create all my work in my home Sunflower Studio.

Printmaking

Collographs are prints made from layering ink-resistant materials on to mountboard. The different materials create varying textures and patterns. I also engrave into the plate for finer details.
The ink is then applied using scrim and smoothed using different techniques. The printing press compresses the plate against paper to complete the print!

Drypoint Etchings:

Drypoint Etchings are made from fine engravings into a material, such as metal or acetate.

Ink is applied in a similar way and the fine engravings hold the ink. When printed through a press it produces a detailed print.

Pencil Drawing

I draw in black and white using pencils ranging from 5H to 6B.
